Mobile LiDAR – Light Detection and Ranging — is a remote sensing method that uses light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure ranges (variable distances) to the Earth.
We incorporate the most advanced LiDAR sensors, cameras, and position/navigation technologies to collect survey-quality point data quickly and accurately.
RB Visuals teams with its industry partners in providing innovative mapping solutions that incorporate the most advanced LiDAR sensors, cameras, and position/navigation technologies to collect survey-quality point data quickly and accurately. In doing this, we can provide solutions practically overnight compared to the days and sometimes weeks it takes to collect and process similar data and we can do this with resolutions accurate down to a single centimeter.
Our solutions incorporate comprehensive technologies that takes the very best of aerial, land-based and marine data collection so that, overall, our clients can have the very best, most accurate information upon which to base resolution strategies.
Mobile LiDAR offers numerous advantages over aerial mapping and conventional ground surveys. This non-invasive method of surveying can be operated day or night, with efficient acquisition of millions of 3-D design points per minute. Mobile laser scanning provides data density of up to 150 points per square foot (dependent on system settings for the project), allowing for faster coordinate acquisition compared with all other survey methods.
Benefits of Mobile LiDAR scanning include:
Cost savings: Advanced mobile mapping technology gathers all required data point measurements in one pass, eliminating the need for additional mobilization costs.
Time savings: Mobile LiDAR gives RB Visuals the ability to collect up to 1,000,000 points per second, compared to one point every few minutes with traditional survey technologies.
Enhanced data: The system provides designers with a more “complete” picture of the project with survey accurate point measurements and the ability to locate features that may be inaccessible with other methods.
Increased safety: The system also provides increased safety for project personnel and the general public because data can be collected remotely, day or night, removing the need for traffic diversion required by traditional surveying activities.
